We were invited by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University to pitch for the revitalization of an old factory in eastern Beijing. The project envisions transforming the factory into a Life Science Center and Technology Innovation Park, offering a mix of functions, including a public square, reception center, art exhibition hall, shared offices, museum, innovation laboratories, data center, conference center, offices, restaurants, cafes, gym, bookstore, and apartments.
Our design integrates modular laboratory spaces, rooftop greening, and a three-dimensional mobility system for both pedestrians and cyclists, aligning with the dual-carbon strategy. Addressing the challenges of the existing site—such as its single function, vast scale, and disorganized flow—we reimagined the circulation and landscape to create seamless connections between buildings. The design incorporates streamlined pathways and green bridges, offering a unified and dynamic experience across the park. With minimalist geometric forms and sculptural elements, the overall design reflects the park’s focus on innovation, technology, and vitality.
